18 Hedströmmen övre  

The Upper Hedströmmen River, found at the border between Dalarna and Västmanland, provides this varied two day tour for experienced paddlers in their rugged canoes. The river has a fall of 50 m so there are a whole lot of tricky currents and rapids to be dealt with. The best time to make this trip is at high water in the spring or the autumn. At low water the trip is nearly impassable.

The Upper Hedtrömmen is included in the fishing area Malingsbo-Klotens and there are usually a lot of sport fishermen lining the riverbanks. Wait until they have reeled in their lure or fly before attempting to pass by. (Per Ytterberg, FF in Uppsala, paddled and reported.)

Please note that the Hedströmmen upstream lake Malingsbosjön is very shallow, stony and narrow and therefor not suitable for paddling.
