The river Tidan originates in the borderland between the provinces of Västergötland and Småland. On your way from Småland you paddle through deep forests, meadows and open countryside until you finally reach the county town Mariestad and Lake Vänern. During this trip you may find that you use your legs almost as often as your arms, because there are a lot of portages past the many old mill-dams.
