01 Byske älv 1-2
From its source in Lappland, the river Byskeälv flows through the northern part of Västerbotten and runs out into the Bottenviken at the town of Byske. This river has a very steep drop, 362 m, over its course of 140 km. It is only the centre section, described here, that is suitable to paddle on. This section can be navigated in a canoe. The Byskeälv is one of Sweden's large forest rivers. It is rich in game fish, and is, at least for the time being, not developed to generate electricity.
