03 Köla älv

Köla älv is a varied trip including paddling on both lakes and slowly meandering streams. The trail starts from the wilderness lake Skjervangen in Norway, passes soon the border to Sweden and continues past the Skillingsfors village down to the town Koppom. From here there is a very nice stretch of the river Köla älv, with many chances to catch a glimpse of the beavers living around.

After the villages Adolfsfors and Köla you paddle on lake Hugn to Åmotsfors and then on lake Nysockensjön towards Jössefors, where you join the trail Jösse älv.

As a bit shorter alternative you can continue southward from lake Hugn to the south end of lake Rängen. From there it is about 4 km:s overland with canoe cart to lake Glafsfjorden and Arvika city.
