29 Forsmarksån  

The Forsmarksån river offers a nice varied weekend trip through the wilderness of northern Uppland, when the water is high enough. After the portage past Lövstabruk village, a guite difficult stretch on the Risforsån stream follows, where there are many trees and bushes in the water.

Instead you might avoid the Risforsån by prolonging the portage (using canoe cart) past Lövstabruk to the southwest end of lake Skälsjön. After this there is mostly quite easy paddling on small streams and lakes to the old village of Forsmark. This very reeded stretch can be difficult to navigate.

Then 5 km:s further on to the bridge at the Johannisfors, where the trip ends. As an option you can continue into the Kallrigafjärden in the sea. (Source: Per Ytterberg 2008 and Jan Lönn 1982.)
