The Nissan river originates in the swampy grounds south of the city of Jönköping. The first part of the Nissan upper is difficult during low water season, because of the many shallow streams. Here and there you will find some obstacles like trees in the water, but usually they are passable without portage.

During high water this is a nice and exciting day trip through the deep forests of Småland.
